Just finished the second electroCoustic mando. I was told that it played a bit tough, but the player couldn't tell me what his instrument was set at....that got me to wondering, is there an action specification, such as those guitar players use, to help describe the height?

For example, a medium "bluegrass" setup on a guitar would be commonly 5/64" first string at the 12th fret, and 7/64" sixth string.

I'd sure appreciate some measurements from any one who would care to contribute....I don't care if it's mm, thousandths, or 64's....first course and fourth course heights, from the top of the 12th fret to the bottom of the string...

FWIW, I just reset mine to just a touch over 3/64 and 4/64 respectively.

This will help me get a handle on customer's requests...and is something I always ask a guitar/bass customer.

Thanks....

PS: that's water on the back of the instrument...the bushes were wet...

Sorry I can't help you but I just wanted to say that this is a freakin cool mando. Where are the electronics? Under the pickguard? Very nice. How much?

That thing looks like it is made for my beer belly. Cool.

I keep most of mine as close to G = 5/64ths & E = 3/64ths as I can.

Evan, is that your maximum height or your target height? (ie, would you go lower if the mandolin will let you?)
