This recording by citternist (mostly English guittar) Doc Rossi (http://www.musicintime.co.uk/DocRossi/doc.htm) was just posted to Dartmouth's lute list. Enjoy.

PS: It is an unaccompanied fingerstyle solo.
I immediately heard "Hey Jude", then realized that is exactly what Doc Rossi intended. Duh. This is beautiful, Eugene. Thanks!

lovely.
the fingerstyle cittern has almost a harpsicord tone... has that jangly quality but without the harsh attack.
thanks for posting it.

Even though I had nothing to do with the making of this, I'm glad you enjoyed it. #This is a very specific type of 6-course cittern tuned to an open C-major chord called English guitar or guittar. #There are some pretty cool CDs (including by Doc Rossi and Robb MacKillop) of nothing but this fingerstyle cittern stuff. #There is also a cool fingerstyle CD, Mischianza Cythara (http://www.vinceconaway.com/frames/disc/misccyth.html), by Ohioan Vince Conaway (http://www.vinceconaway.com/) on archcittern with more wire strings than I'd care to count.

Like magic, the honorable ancestry of our modern zouks ands OMs ascend from their graves to gracefully wave a little hello, delighted that this sound concept works so well after all these centuries.
I'll gladly use this to explain to those people who always say my instrument sounds "medieval" that they are oh-so-right.

Another thanks Eugene, for sharing this wonderful piece of music with us. It brought a peaceful, easy feeling to my soul, like how Saul must have felt while David played for him. Peace on Earth and Goodwill toward Man. Merry Christmal to all.
