This morning I took my recently acquired Weber Custom Bitterroot out of its case, checked the tuning and started playing. I noticed a faint rattling sound. Not really a buzz but more of a rattle. I couldn't determine the source so I kept playing for a few minutes and it was gone.

I've never noticed that before.

My action is set up pretty low. I live in arid part of the country and we had high humidity today. Yet I have a humidifier and a hydrometer in the case.

Does anyone have a clue as to what might have caused this?

Check the truss rod cover, tuners, tailpiece

i used to have a '85 flatiron a-5 that started buzzing like that. it turned out to be one of the nuts on the neck bolts inside that had come a little loose. my repairman tightened it with a long extenion on a wrench through the end pin hole.
good luck, john

My stewmac kit mando started rattling on certain notes a few weeks ago and I found the truss rod nut had worked loose. In this case the rattle seemed to come from the middle of the neck. Snugged up the nut and the problem went away.
