Great forum for musicians. Don't we all wish something like this was available when we were learning. I encourage the 'Cafe' members to use and support this effort. Dan

This is great stuff...just what I've been looking for. I have yet to see a comparable DVD out with this kind of instruction.

I checked the site. It looks great...until I download a video lesson.
The video and audio are not in sync...they are way off. Does anyone else
experience this problem? Can anyone make a suggestion as to what the problem
is. Thanks
JEff
Hey everyone, thanks so much for the wonderful feedback.
There is so much more to come in the future. AS far as the latency issues, i will run that by our webmaster and see what is happening there, this is the first i heard of it.
thanks so much for checking it out everyone

I had a problem after downloading the lessons and burning them to a DVD. I would prefer to watch this stuff on the TV in my music room then by the computer. There was a video picture but no sound. Don't know if this was disabled on purpose?
I really don't like practicing at the computer, if I even can get computer time (another matter).
Some folks prefer the tv room route, many folks i know are taking their mando to work and jamming during lunch time. The more time on the instrument the better, Some folks like to throw the videos on their ipod too, pretty cool. So it comes down to which works better for the person.
I do wish i had this when i first started.
thanks for the feedback

Hi Mr. Jeff,

I am very curious about this. Can you be more specific? How far off was the sync? Was it out of sync when you were streaming it on the web? What version of quicktime do you have? Are you on dialup?
This is Chris from MusicMoose.org (co-founder) and I'm very concerned when someone says the videos are out of sync!
Thanks for your time.

All of the lessions that I downloaded simply give an error message and will not play any video or audio on Windows Media Player.

I believe you need the newest version of Quicktime to run them. They work ok for me.

Worked great for me running Firefox under windows 2K. Thanks so much for taking the time and trouble for putting this up!
It seems that just a few years ago, trying to get mandolin instruction on the internet was somewhat harder than finding tuba lessons. Perhaps if I ever get to the point that my playing doesn't make small children cry....

For the QT averse, Quicktime Alternative (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickTime_Alternative.htm) works well too.
But yeah, great stuff! Thanks Anthony.
Cheers Anthony... really helpfull stuff!!! Hope to see you in Ireland again soon, we missed you in Dunmore this year.. All the best,

I'll throw a plug in here for that MusicMoose.com site as well. Anthony does a great job with his lessons, (a bit fast paced, but good), and the overall site is really worth checking out.

Wow, really glad to find you Moose guys on here. I've been following your lessons since before I bought my mandolin last week and I have to say, I'm really grateful.
I have got one problem, and it's me not you, I can play the two finger chords and the three finger chords and I can pick up a church song book and play the chords that are in there. My problem comes that I don't know how to go from that to the 'next step'. I feel that I must have missed a lesson or two somewhere along the line.
Any chance of something 'inbetween' for those of us with very little musical talent before you get to the kick offs?

I tried watching some of the lessons and the synch was fine except for the one on the chop.
I figured it was my computer that was the problem.
Great site though!
Geez , it's getting so a guy can hardly help but learn how to play.

Music Moose is a fantastic homepage. It's a very useful resource of stuff. I can't stress it enough. Thanks for pointing it out.
Thanks reddragon, riccardo, attetone and soupy and who ever else is checking out the moose.
I will get into those "in between lessons" for sure.
We just added a user interface so the the moose community can upload vids of themselves.
So go ahead and submit some so we can review them and help you along your mandolin or musical path.
I cant thank you all enough for the feedback.
happy holidays
Anthony

If you are having a problem with your qt player then download the freeware MEDIA PLAYER CLASSIC
http://www.afterdawn.com/softwar....sic.cfm (http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_players/media_player_classic.cfm)
The program plays almost everything

I'm happy to see that they've added more "Beginner" lessons, though Anthony still goes pretty fast. #Some tab addendums would help. #Guess I should be grateful for what we're already getting - can't beat that (free) price!
