In my battle to sing for unsung (occasionally) heros (and the opportunity to use alliteration in a topic title) . . .

A couple of year's back, I had Don Paine of Pomeroy Mandolins build an F4 mando for me. If you search the archives, you'll see how incredibly pleased I am with it.

Last week I called Don and asked if he could lower the action for me. I had the thumbwheels as low as they could go on the bridge, but still wanted to drop it even lower (I don't play bluegrass, and yes, I know, I should). I also wanted the Schaller's tightened just a hair as long as he had it.

Well, got it back yesterday.

Not only did he lower the bridge for me, he tightened the tuners, cleaned up the frets, and built and installed a new ebony saddle to replace the bone one (he claims that on occasion, bone will crack. Since my mando is 2 years old, not a likelihood, but while he had it, he felt he should take care of that as well).

Quick turn-around time, excellent work, and additional improvements without asking.

You couldn't get better service anywhere I'm aware of. And it was all covered under the warranty.

Don makes incredible instruments and his after sale support exceptional. Just a REAL big thanks to Don for all he's done for me and others. A truly superb and honorable artist, craftsman, and person. A pleasure to deal with.

I've sent Don #13 on a couple of occasions and he's always amazed me with quick turnaround, good work, and extras if needed. When I talk to him about it he acts like its his privilege to get to see his "children" again. Just a nice guy who does incredible work.

Truth.

And #64 sounds better than ever, and I KNOW it isn't my playing!!!
