As I was flipping through the channels at the hotel on Friday night at the lovely Holiday Inn at the Newark Airport, I caught the very end of Evlis Costello w/ Roseanne Cash on Letterman...

I am pretty sure (and I did just verify it via google!) that Mike Compton, Todd Phillips, & Larry Campbell on fiddle were the backup band!

The 20 seconds I heard were pretty good!

Anybody else catch this?

Yeah, I saw it. I thought that Elvis completely overpowered Roseanne.

I noticed that Costello will appear at Merlfest this year....

It seems that there is a tribute album (I can't remember who the tribute is for) to an old singer (?) and all those players and Costello will be on the album. Mr. Compton brought this up at his workshop I attended on Saturday (it's almost disturbing to watch him play, looks as if he tamed the mandolin but he would say otherwise).

Anyone know who this tribute album is for?

I am completely bummed at missing that! EC has been, pretty much my main musical inspiration for the last near 30 years, and Roseanne's The Wheel has been in near constant rotation since it came out all those years ago...

No clue on the upcoming tribute album, but inquiring minds here, etc... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
