Hi,
Here are a couple of pics from a Mike Compton workshop yesterday (Sunday, April 25th) in Memphis.
We had 14 participants of various levels of experience. We all took away some great info and insight into Mike's playing as well as Monroe-style mandolin.

Looks like a great time. I love hearing him play and would love to have a chance to attend one of his workshops. What do you think was the highlight of the workshop?

I think Mike's the youngest guy there!

John,
Thanks for getting the workshop together, for Mike to take the time to do it and for Lawrence for use of his home. I truly enjoyed the experience.
The highlight, my opinion, was hearing Mike play Monroe's Blues, and then to turn around and teach us to how to play it. Incredible.

Lots of highlights - Mike not only gives you insight into the music technically, he also explains his philosophy and theories on music and Monroe. Very cool.
One of my favorites moments was when someone requested he play Wheel Hoss which he tore into for a couple of minutes. We we all sitting there kind of stunned and someone said "Groovy" and we all busted out lauphing. It was that kind of day.
Old? Guess we were kind of a seasoned group. There were a few young'uns in the back!

Is that Larry David in the front row? I didn't know he played the mandolin!
