I don't think I can bear any more bad news, this month. If men's drawstring pants go out of fashion, please don't tell me or I'll put a bullet in my head.

Oh no! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif . Darn them nasty Pac Rim 'netcasters! Evil global economy. Maybe Mandokatt was sued by an insurance company for not playing enough music made on F5's.
Maybe all is not lost, the page came up "playlist not available", so maybe??
Bucket, I'm with you! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

They had a radio program for the mandolin? Where was it available on the radio? Mandolincafe (and this radio program) might actually be a mixed blessing. This site is put together so well, incredibly well. But it IS easy, I imagine, to get somewhat addicted this site, or visiting YouTube, or listening to mandolin CDs, or that radio program - that you don't get around to actually playing the mandolin. It might be a worse disease than having a bunch of instruments and not getting around to playing them all. But a mandolin radio show. Wow! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Here in LA county and Orange county CA lost our only country station to pop. KZLA switched formats a few months ago. If you are lucky you might be able to receive Kfrog, I think that is out of San Bernadino.
Drat. Flatpicking radio went dead about six weeks ago too. Dark times we're livin' in.

Maybe Santa Claus will bring you an XM or Sirius receiver for Christmas. I know Sirius only has one Bluegrass channel and one Blues channel, but they're really really good.
Or as a last resort, set up a Shoutcast station. I have one that mainly plays music from some friends down in South Texas (Search for HKOAA Radio in shoutcast if you get bored.). It only costs me 15 bucks a month for 50 listeners. That's cheaper than a new set of Firewires! I'm sure lots of you have great collections of the brilliant, the offbeat, the great unknowns. Its a good way to let the world get a taste of what YOU think is good.

It is not the cost of the receiver. My wife and I refuse to pay a monthly fee to subscribe for music.

I have Sirius for Howard and the Bluegrass and I can listen to XM on my DirecTV but on MandolinRadio.com I got to hear all sort of mandolin music, not just bluegrass. I have tried MandozineRadio.com but its too jazzy with not just mandolin content.

Interesting, I listened to both, but mostly Mandozine as I thought Mandolin Radio was too much Bluegrass. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif
