Thought I'd toss this up for the benefit of those not on their mailing list. There's always some good mandolin content in the magazine and I've enjoyed just about every article. Some of our members have authored or co-authored some articles. The Howe-Orme last issue was stunning!

Friends,
A quick update for you. … The fourth issue of the Fretboard Journal (November 2006) will begin mailing to subscribers and stores later this week. Check your mailboxes and/or your favorite guitar dealer (or bookstore) and see what we’re up to... it’s our biggest issue to date, weighs in at over a pound!
Highlights:
-A lengthy tribute piece on John Hartford (cover story), with rare and never-before-seen photographs, quotes from Jamie Hartford, David Bromberg and others
-An in-depth interview with jazz guitarist Bill Frisell conducted by sometimes collaborator (and banjo player extraordinaire) Danny Barnes
-An interview with mandolinist Radim Zenkl on the Czech “tramp” scene, the help he got from Grisman, his playing technique and more
-An interview with R&B guitar legend Steve Cropper on his early days at Stax Records, including all-new photographs
-A visit to some of Minnesota ’s finest guitar builders, including Charles Hoffman, Jim Olson, Michael Keller and Brian Applegate
Plus a huge photo essay of the PRS Guitars factory, and a whole lot more.
