Maybe this is a dumb question, but I need to know so I'm asking anyway. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif I have some guitar tab that calls for the Dsus chord. What would I play for that on the OM? If there are sus chords for the OM, they aren't in my chord dictionary, so what would you substitute?

A Dsus is also known as a Dsus4 (there is also a Dsus2, but if it just says Dsus it means the Dsus4), and it's just raising the 3rd of the chord by a half step to the 4. Assuming your OM is tuned GDAE and you play an open 2-finger D 2002, the Dsus could then be 2003. It's raising the F# to a G. Or a 245x D would become a 255x Dsus.

Also try 750x (resolving to a regular D 740x perhaps?) http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

If your left hand is tired, even 0003, 0005 or 000 10 would work, although they're probably not the ideal voicings. Or, heck, 000x.

I use GDAD tuning on OM/zouk, I'd play 7500 for a Dsus4. Of course, in that tuning, just strumming all the strings open would result in D sus4, but it's not the voicing I'd use. With the low G in bass, it sounds more like a Gsus2 http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
