Just wondering -

Anyone going to this? It's the first weekend of February in the Holiday Inn/Convention Center there in scenic Bakersfield. Figuring I might drive on up - la capa di tutti capi sez it's okay.

Anybody been in previous years? If so, would you care to offer a review or an opinion?

And a question: At indoor festivals like this one, does one stake out seats in the auditorium in the way that one stakes out spots at an outdoor festival? If so, how? Drape a sweatshirt or something over the chair's back? If not, what?

Any other strategies to suggest for successful and profitable indoor-festival viewing?

Thanks - Jon

This will only be SuperGrass’s second year and we will be arriving Wednesday afternoon like we did last year. LoarFest on Thursday was wonderful. Met many other enthusiasts, played a great many Loars and other fine instruments, attended a panel discussion with highly respected mandolin experts and heard some of finest players in the world jam together and attended the Loar tasting very late that night. I was a happy camper before SuperGrass started on Friday!! Saw no reason to stake out a seat. All seats are great and viewing and listening was excellent. Vendors brought in many instruments to display (I went home only with what I brought), workshops were great , entertainment was first class and Sunday morning Gospel session was the best part of the week. I liked stepping out of the shower, jumping on the elevator and walking right into the festival. The hotel has suggested I put clothes on next time somewhere between the shower and the elevator, but I’m old and tend to forget small details.
