I'm just getting into some alternate tunings, and I'm wondering if there is a consensus regarding leaving your mando tuned to a higher tension than "standard" tuning (such as AEae). Any chance of damaging a properly built instrument? I play a Weber Bridger A.

Hi Rick, I would call STE before increasing string tensions on my Weber, just to be on the safe side. My "pucker factor" increases just tuning a new E string on my instruments, but I have used different tunings for a tune or two; not for a prolonged period of time.
GDAD (open G)
ADAD (open D)
AEAC# (open A)
ADAE (low A)
There are others, probably, but my poor, old brain just won't let me learn all of those scales. A few new chords are a task these days!

If you want to stay there then a mix of #extralight guage wound strings(34,22) and the standard 16,11 for the regular tuned plain strings .
to be on the safe side..
the other 'power chord' 3rd-less double 5th ,GDgd is detuning the plain ones.
