HI there, looking for some help/opinions of experience.

I have been playing for gigs about 3 - 4 hours a day straight through for the last two days doing a ton of chopping on the mando to comp my band and have been getting some pain in the bottom of my right wrist. Feels sore like it's had too much of a workout and is very uncomfortable when chopping now. I iced it and am going to lay off it for a day. I never heard of pain in the right hand and was wondering what your thoughts may be on the subject. It's not terrible pain but pain none the less, it's not sprained and only is in the bottom of my wrist. I feel like I play with a pretty loose wrist for the most part and think that it's just from the strain of playing so much.

Any thoughts and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not a Doctor and I don't know if you're able to consume any aspirin (for health reasons) or not but if you can't, take at least one (1) Advil about an hour prior to playing. It normally helps me loosen up my fingers and wrists before getting ready to play. I know a few banjo players that claim to do the same thing. I use to play at certain venues where we were playing 4-5 sets in one evening so I know where you're coming from.

* Unless there are any Doctors who frequent the Cafe that could tell you otherwise (please, by all means feel free to comment on this) that's the best advice I could give you, based on "my own experience". #I take an aspirin daily, by the way. **You may want to seek the advice from your Doctor about this as well.

Good luck! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/coffee.gif

I feel a little arrogant giving advice about mandolin playing, since I've only been at it seriously, less than a year, but in all honesty, I have gotten nerve pains just below my palm that were caused by holding certain chords. I've found that by slightly tilting the angle of my fingers to the right, that it eliminates the pain completely.
