Something fishy going on here. This mandolin is on 2 auctions at the same time with different sellers. Identical wording and descriptions.
I have emailed the seller who had it on first assuming that this person is probably the legit seller. Maybe?
It is a Lyon and Healy style A.

This one looks like it might be the scam.

This one might be legit.
You know I don't know how to do the link thing on this so it might not work.

Sorry about that. Obviously I don't know how to do it.
The item numbers are correct though, so I guess if you want you can just punch those numbers into ebay.
How do you do the link thing?? Could one of you techno-wizards do it for me?
I would appreciate it if someone could PM me on how to do it??
Thanks for putting up with me.

and
Second (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3720264714)
The easisest way to do links is to just click the blue-text http:// button.

OK, I think I got it. (till the next time) Thanks.
Well I feel a bit dumb, but what about the guy who posted the second ebay ad. He wasn't even smart enough to wait till the stolen ad closed.
I am like Einstein compared to him. I feel goooood!!!
Nice catch. There is just too much fraud on eBay today.

I sent ebay a very terse message about this one. I told them that I am not impressed with their history on dealing with these scammers and that this time I want it dealt with properly , not just shrugged off.
It looks like they did the right thing this time, according to them anyway. The person who stole the ad is no longer an ebay member.
The big question is, am I still a member?
They might have given me the boot too.

I found a fraudulent eBay listing -- a 0-feedback new user in the UK posted a copy of an ad for an expensive instrument that had just sold. Slightly different title for the ad, and the photos were cropped differently, but they were still the same photos and the text was verbatim.
So I zipped through eBay's help section, and while I still didn't find anything on "fraud reporting" per se, I did find a page where you can report borrowing of images and text. The page was set up to assume that the seller who placed the original ad would be using it. Well, I wasn't that seller but I used it anyway ... and less than 24 hours later the bad ad was gone and the note below was in my inbox.
(Now, the cynic in me just has to point out that eBay still doesn't seem to care that people run ads for items they don't own and have no intention of shipping. In other words, they don't mind if people steal your MONEY -- but they do seem to be concerned about the theft of text and images. However, the ad was pulled and that's the most important thing.)

This is actually the third go around on this mando. I emailed the seller the first time around and never heard a thing back. Oh well. How many times has this person's dad died?

The Lyon & Healy in question was listed a third time & sold for $2,592. Seller became unregistered within a day or so after the auction ended. Winning bidder's ID is "aheist." Might have been more of aheist than he/she realized...
