Hi Gang! I'm new here, just learning the mando, and I love it. I've seen some threads about airline travel, and they've been most helpful. I have one question though.. If I carry my mando on, do I have to do anything with the strings, such as loosen them? I've heard people say that, but I'm unsure of what, if anything I need to do to prep my mando.

Thanks, this is a great site, and I hope to visit often!

No, you don't have to loosen the strings.

No. The only difference between the overhead and your car is the lower humidity, and unless you are travelling to Asia, Southern Africa or Australia, your mando won't notice a thing.

Just make sure you remove any tools, gels or liquids from the case.

Thanks so much for the help! I'm really a newbie, and am so in love with playing. I have a 2 month old nephew back home, and I want to play what little I can for him when I fly home this month. It's not much, but I want to start him early.

Thanks again!
