Hey, who is Mr. Paganoni in the mandolin circles? What is he known for or what does he do? Thanks, dy.

Doyle Lawson has played Pag mandos exclusively for many a year...Pags are great mandos.

Is there any wonder why a greenburst Loar remains unsold? Doyle would never play a green mandolin.

I know Harry pretty well, but I think he is a little "optomistic" on that mandolin! I've seen than mandolin a number of times and for many years did not think too much of it - but at the time had never heard of John, and never bothered to pick it up and play. It might be like some of Harry's other stuff - it's for sale, but it "isn't" for sale!

Yeah, well at that price I think I'd prefer this one for $20,000 less Paganoni (http://www.vintageinstruments.com/museum/pagnifulpage.html) (and not green http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif )

i think that is just Harry's way of saying it aint for sale - you sort of have to know, he has a very odd business model when it comes to pricing his stuff. i wonder if he's had second thoughts now when he claimed loars were WAAAYY overvalued in the mid-80's and dumped most of his - now he's asking $37K for a green mando...i dont know about Harry
i find it odd that mando was made around the same time as the other pag on the vintageinstruments.com site - very different. i remember when that mando was on ebay a few years ago and i only think it went for around $5k - historically important, but pretty crude in craftsmanship.

I have played a few Paganoni instruments over the years, and wish I had bought one 'way back'. John was an early builder of the Loar-era mandolins and did a very fine and close copy.
I briefly owned one of his Loar-era repro cases. Sure wish I had kept that one.
