Had a dream last night that some girl had decided to nail my mandolin to the wall through the headstock. In the process she had broken it in several places. There was a crack in the front of the body and part of the head was missing. I couldnt get it down without making it worse so I never did. My dream self was pretty pissed. What could it all mean??

OK, so it was my guitar in the dream, but I figured the post should contain mandolin content...

It clearly means that your guitar playing days are over and you should get a really good mandolin! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

In your dream your guitar is really you. She probably meant to nail your butt to the wall. Do you feel guilty about something? I'm just teasing ya.

In my dream analysis book it says ,A wall is an obstacle. A nail in fact predicts that you will acheive something that you think is beyond your reach. but it's gonna take (quote from book) "hard slogging effort". I'm not teasing on this one.

I got it!!

The girl in your dream is actually jeffshuniak's girlfriend, who somehow happened to catch wind of the "beautiful girl, a dark night, a dim street light" thread he started a few days ago...

Now, why she thought that you were Jeff, I haven't a clue... maybe just a name mix-up thing... y'know - Jeff/Geoff...

...but, if that's the case, I sure don't envy you, buddy! She'll be back! Y'know what they say - "A woman scorned..." and all that...

It means you will take a strange journey... see things wonderful to see... a cow on top of a barn... Beware the sirens. Do not seek the treasure.

Not much into dream interpretation but I can't resist my favorite psychiatry joke. The shrink is giving an ink blot test. Everytime the man is shown an ink blot, he sees something sexual in the picture. He finally says, "So Doc, what do you think?" The doctor says, "I think you have a sexual obsession." The man replies, "Me? You're the one with all the dirty pictures."

As to the dream, did you analyze what you ate before going to bed?

Willard,
After I left the house this morning I was thinking about the response I gave to Geoff and I thought the same thing you did about the Oh Brother movie. You're gonna see a COW on top of a BARN. I kinda sounded like that guy huh?

That made me blow Diet Coke out of my nose. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif I love that movie but my wife won't let me get it on DVD.

Dude, you have got some real issuses. Keep all sharp objects locked up and try pickin' with only rounded edge picks. Were you musically abused during childhood?

I've had some weird mando-related dreams. Mostly it ends up my darling mandolin just looks funny (like having the bridge where the endpin is instead of on the top, etc). It starts out looking regular but then the more I look back at it the more different it is. Doesn't anyone else have strange mandolin or music dreams?

I have those dreams where I am supposed to play somewhere and I get up to the microphone which is in the midst of a crowd and find I need something and spend the rest of the dream trying to get back to the microphone. These are really stressful; I always wake up anxious after one of those.

Great, so I have a "hard slogging effort" ahead of me before Im pickin like Doc huh? Well, I better get started... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif But maybe it does mean I should focus on some mandolin. I was just happy when that moment came when I was realized, heeeyyy this aint real!

I'm mad at my husband for watching "Night of the Living Dead" yesterday. Even though I only caught glimpses of a few scenes while walking through the den, I had nightmares about fighting zombies all night.
