Hi all,
I can't find a tool like this in any catalog, not even McMaster. It's simply an electric iron, and looks pretty darn useful for heating small joints. Anyone have a clue where to pick one up?

Its not the same thing but "monokote(sp?)" irons used on model airplanes work very well. I have one and use it all the time. Sealing iron (http://www.monokote.com/accys/topr2100.html)

I owe you a bottle of vintage wine, Chris. Thank you!

What is a sealing iron used for exactly?

Radio controlled model aircraft use heat shrinking plastic and fabric materials. You stitch and dope the skin in place, then apply the heat to tighten it before it is coated with dope and finish.

So, no more rice paper and dope over balsa till you stagger out of the basement completely stoned? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Hobbico also makes a sealing iron very similar to the one linked above. You can find it here (http://www.lovingstitches.net/Merchant/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=1&Product_Code=Hobbico+Custom+Sealing+Iron&Category_Code=NOT).
