Gang,
I'm a lefty guitar player, and a total newbie to this world of mandolins. I'm reading a ton of stuff from here and Comando, trying to halfway learn before I buy my first mandolin.
I don't see the usual threads about nut size and neck shapes that I'm used to reading on guitar forums. (Happens ALL the time on them!) Is 1-1/8" considered "standard"? Is it nutzo to consider ordering a 1-1/4" nut width, with a fuller neck shape than I've seen on the few mandolins I've held in the past few weeks?
I have 2 custom guitars, and both have 1-3/4" nuts, with deep V necks. My fingers are average length for a man, but I have a large palm, so a larger, fuller neck feels better to me on guitar.
If anyone has experience in both worlds and can share some tips and hints, I would GREATLY appreciate it! I don't want to screw up here....
