I'm have trouble getting good precision with the schaller tuners on my mando. Is it worth trying out grovers? Anyone have experience with this?

What do you mean by "good precision" exactly? I have a mando with Schallers and another one with Grovers and while they are different, they are comparable as far as I'm concerned. FYI, sometimes what seems like tuner problems are actually bushing or nut problems.

I've had more problems with Schallers than with Grovers. None with Grovers, actually.
But I've used more Schallers than Grovers too, so I can't make a blanket statement that there are fewer problems with Grovers.

I assume you mean elaborate on the nut and bushing thing. If your nut slots are not done right, or have worn down, they can create greater than normal friction on the strings when tuning. It can feel and act like there is a problem with the tuners. Similarly, if the tuner bushings were not installed with nearly perfect line up, or they have come loose and gotten slightly out of position, it can bind the tuner post with a similar effect. It feels like a tuner problem, but it's not. A good luthier can diagnose it.

I'm not authorized to say anything official, so I'll just say wait a few months, there will be a new and "better" choice on the market.
