OK, y'all... time to cast your vote...
Our own Jack (streborkcaj) mentioned in another post that he had a "thing" for Vintage Postcard Mando Cutie #9. What's everyone else think? Which lady from this bevy of beauties should get to wear the crown?
Bevy?? hmmmmm... I wonder... a bevy of mandolins?? NAH!!
Ladies, unfortunately there are only two gentlemen in the pack to pick from - #10 & #23. Oh, and by the way, if any of you guys feel a deep and pressing urge to vote for #10 or #23, please feel free... hey, whatever floats your boat... *ahem*... not that there's anything wrong with that...
OK, I'll go...
Hard to tell from these photos, but assuming all is kosher with regard to chronological issues ("Honest, officer... she said she was 18!!"), I gotta go with the haunting eyes and abundant tresses of #6.
Next??

#20! Duh!
I think #18 looks a little sinister...What does she have in that bag? A severed head?

#9, #19, #20, #22...I'm not too fussy generally speaking. My cutie at home knows what a mandolin is and I suppose that's more than I can expect, but she wouldn't pose with one.
Do we have Scott to thank for that page? He should find more with less clothing. LOL.
Peace, Mooh.

Gotta admit... cutie #9 certainly deserves points for those classy, fuzzy-ball slippers!
...either that, or somebody ought to tell her that she's got gerbils crawling up her feet!

On the Mandolin Cafe main page Scott has a collection of old mandolin postcards. Go check them out, they are really neat.
Since Carol might find her way in here sometime, I will abstain from voting. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Remember the scene in Animal House where the Delta Boys are lookin' at slides of prospective pledges and all of a sudden Flounder's picture comes up and they all scream 'n barf 'n fall off their chairs 'n all??
Remember that??

OK, since Scott is big with the fundraising, here's a suggestion: mandobabe playing cards. (Neil Gladd's more, ah exotic specimens should be the face cards - you'll always know who's holding good stuff as they pause to admire the Art.
I'd buy a deck. And what a way to spread the mandoword, huh?
But let's have no nude shots of Big Mon, please.

I have a few more may post in the future. Here's one I used to own that would have fit nicely into that collection. One thing about these postcards is that after you've seen about a hundred different ones you begin to see the same models, the same studio backgrounds in quite a few. Mignon in particular produced tons of these and an eBay search will turn up thousands of Mignon postcards, though only a few with mandolin. I've acquired the best ones though from a private collector in England who must have more old mandolin postcards than anyone on the planet. And the backs of the postcards are especially cool, though not all in English as you might expect.

#9 gets my vote too! but we need more candidates!
could we make them up into a card set? collect em' all!
It prob could be done in a format that you can download, put into word and print up on an avery template with some card stock. we could keep adding to the collection as we find more, don't know what I'm thinkin'
cheers Y'all
