I finished my f5 mandolin and am very pleased at the outcome of the sound and looks for being my first one,,,have already bent the sides and cut out top and back for my next one,,,,,i was just wondering if anyone have had trouble keeping thiers in tune after stringing it up...im thinking it may be the keys slipping for some reason,,,i wouldnt think everything is still moving around for i dont see any difference in it as far as neck pulling up or the such,,,,any suggestions?http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif? Thanks Russell

How long has it been strung up? The F5 I built last year and have been playing since needed a bit of tuning for the first week or so, but after that, I've been literally astounded at how little tuning it requires.

Normally, it's just pick it up and pick it out.

If you followed normal construction methods and materials, it should settle in shortly.

Unless you have a lot of previous experience with set up, there are probably bridge, nut, action, and fret adjustments that will help keep it in tune, and that you haven't yet performed.

Did you use a "stock" bridge saddle? Did you adjust the compensation if you did? It may need some work for best intonation.

I'd suggest going to frets.com and read up on set up.
There are tutorials on frets, nut height, bridge work, etc. You can spend a lot of time there and learn a lot!
