Bob Tack, a dear freind of my family, passed away last month. He was a dulcimer builder and a very talented musician. His wife is in financial trouble and needs to sell some of Bob's instuments. He had a Epiphone F-5 that was made in Kalamazoo in the Gibson plant some time in the ealy 70's or late 60's. It has a solid spruce top and compared to my 1977 Gibson F-5 it looks almost identical. I was just wondering what it may be worth.

I may be mistaken, but that mandolin was probably made in Japan right along side of the Alvarez, Ibanez and Washburns. I think I am safe in saying it's value is $700 to $900. Hope this helps.

If it was made in 1970 or later it was made in the orient. If it was made before that it could have been made in Kalamazoo. I have not seen any Kalamazoo Epiphone mandos. They did make them in the 30's but I think they were discontinued by the time Gibson bought them.

Well ole Harry must be getting senile. You can buy an American made Gibson F5 from the same period here:

I still say $900 tops.
