I wonder sometimes who the actual craftsmen/women were who actually built those F-5's 1922-1924. Its just that I see Vivi-Tone instruments designed by Mr.Loar and they aren't all that nice looking, in my humble opinion of course.

This is something I always wanted to know more about, but unfortunately, all I've seen is who the higher-ups were and how much $ they were making. I have an old copy of "The Gibson Story" and there's one photo of the work force together from the early 1900's, and a few small pictures of the shop area's, but the only people mentioned are management.
Charlie, any lost documentation laying around a store room there?

I wish.

Rumor has it a private individual has the information, but won't part with it.

I believe I can identify 3 or 4 individuals (by the scroll carving) that worked on the carving portion of the Loars, but it's all conjecture.

We know they had different departments (wood shop, finishing, set-up, etc.) so I'm sure quite a few people worked on each instrument.

A garageful of Gibson info was removed by a management figure years ago, and surfaced when his garage was cleaned out, after his demise I think, but I'm not sure. John Bernunzio has some of it. I don't recall exactly what was in it, short of old catalogs etc, but serious document accumulators might wish to contact him for particulars.

Very interesting topic. Here is the thing that I have always wondered about.
Who is the person who wrote the info on the labels on the teens models?
I can recognize that persons script anywhere. Love the way the "A" was written. Lots of times! Probably someone in shipping I guess.
Yeah, I know,,, it doesn't take much to grab my attention.
I am also highly attracted to shiny objects.
