I know there is already posts on here about BRW mandolins but I don't want to wade thru all those responses. What are your impressions on these mandolins? Are they good bluegrass instruments? Anybody have an A-style? How about a two-point? Sorry to start this topic up again.

OMG! Not another BRW thread! There is already one going and it could set a record for the longest running thread in the history of the Mandolin Cafe http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

BRWs will do anything and everything you want them to including Bluegrass.
on top of that they are a great value. IMHO there are very few makers in the price range of BRWs that can make them with the attention to detail and perfection that comes out of that shop.

..'nuff said...
A's are rare. Mine's the #24 shown on his website, from July 2003. It's gutsier than a Phoenix Deluxe, meatier than a Collings MT2. Not quite the volume as the others at an easier pick attack, but it enjoys heard playing more than the others. Fretwork is flawless. Gorgeous finish. Overall fit and finish is truly awesome.

Someone who actually has one in their hands would be more qualified to fill you in on the BRW "sound", but I can tell you the building process has been smooth.
Ben is very good about staying in touch (although sometimes the process may feel slower than Christmas) and you can tell he really enjoys making these instruments.
Hopefully I can give you an opinion about the instrument itself in about a month... when the darn varnish is dry!
