Scott, The neat picture of Charlie and his mandolin with dates, would make a terrific case sticker. If someone would undertake this project, a portion of the proceeds could be alloted for the Derrington Family.

Somebody's probably already thought of it, but I was thinking that Gibson could make a "Derrington" signature model. A MM limited (or not) edition with a percentage of the proceeds going to the family. In any case "The Derrington" would be a very cool name for a mandolin.

I would buy some, I think it's a great idea. Charge $5 or $7 for them, I think they would sell. It's an inspirational picture, to me.

I recall that we have had some folks post on this great site, who have the capability to produce stickers. Can anyone remember who they might be? Joe, do you suppose that Gibson might undertake this effort, to help support the Charlie Derrington Fund?

It should be easy to do with Cafe Press (http://www.cafepress.com/).

I don't want to spoil the party, but isn't better not to let the left hand know when the right hand is doing good? We all feel sad that Charlie is gone. He was a great talent and from all accounts a very decent man. That should be enough to allow you to dig deep in your pockets to give what you can to the memorial fund in his name. Let your playing ring out in his memory.
Peace,
George

George I believe the intent of the case sticker is another way to contribute to his memory and a way to assist his family in their time of need. Lp

Precisely JLP; some folks just read too much. The original post was for Scott, anyway, in hopes that he might like the idea enough to run with it. I'm too busy to persue the subject any further.

I am still hoping (begging) for someone to pursue this because the Gibson memorial page looks like a most perfect sticker to me. I would always want to honor Charlie on my mando case. I'll take 10 or even 20 of them if that would help someone to start the process.

I agree with the left hand/right hand comments. All it would take is someone getting a bunch made and sending them to the treasurer of the fund along with stamps and envelopes and asking that they be given out to people contributing over $20 and then announcing it (assuming the fund treasurer agreed, and I can't imagine she wouldn't). Don't try to do somehting separate, just make it an added incentive to participate in what is already set up. There is a ton of red tape already sorted out with the existing fund.

I was hoping to see something done on behalf of the Mandolin Cafe community in honor of Charlie with the proceeds going directly to the Derrington family. Lp

From Scott's earlier post about the fund:
Gibson has official established a memorial fund in Charlie's name, with funds contributed going directly to Charlie's immediate family
Someone could likely order a stack of stickers made and send them along with a stack of stamped envelopes to the contact for the fund and ask that when people specify that their gift be included in the Cafe total that she send them a sticker. No red tape, no "proceeds" - whoever gets the stickers made and buys the stamped envelopes just does so as their gift to the fund. Very simple. I can't imagine that the treasurer of the fund would refuse to go along with that.
