Hey everyone, I was just wondering how good Skip's mandolins are. From what I here they are great. How do they compare to the more well known (Gilchrist, Gibson, Collings, etc.)mando's? I was just curious in case i ever save enough to buy another mando.

Josh Pinkham has on his website a sound clip of him playing his Skip Kelley mandolin. Sounds pretty great to me!

Must have missed this thread while out of the country- I love my Skip Kelley Mandolin. People are quite impressed with it. Beautiful midrange, loud and sweet woody tone. Unique and interesting color and finish.

I've had #12 for a little over a year now and it's opening up very nice. One piece back, red spruce top, slight radius fingerboard. I had a chance to play several other top end models while out west this summer (Telluride). Let's just say I was very happy I bought from Skip. He makes a fine mandolin.
