Marty sold it about 3 or 4 years ago, I believe it now resides in Alabama. I am not sure of the number of it, but perhaps someone knows it and you could possible see pics of it on the Mandolin Archives (thanks to Dan B)

Didn't Marty have a mandolin with all sorts of scribbling on it?

I thought the copy was made by Chris Warner.

I've always wondered about the scribbling. Is it a light colored Sharpie, or is it whittled/scratched in? Either way.....

I heard Marty on Bob Edwards show and he told how Johnny Cash took his pocket knife and carved in a message. I'm not sure about the others.

I think that Marion Kirk made this copy...

I doubt anybody would install a pickup with a jack for the cable through the side of a Loar http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

I can't remember if I saw him on Jay Leno or Conan O Brien, but he was playing that scribbled Mandolin and sounded great. He's pretty cool. He must be pushing, what, 50?

48, I think, this September. #That makes him one month older that me. #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

And whoever made that scribbled mando, it rocks.

The mandolin with all of the writing on it is not a Loar, I am 100% sure of that...I can`t say How I know but you can take it to the bank...Willie

I know the initialled mandolin is not his Loar. He sold the Loar several years ago and I beleive it was advertised on the 'Cafe.
Johnnie Cash was the first to 'customize' Marty's copy. I beleive he carved 'J. C.' into it along with a cross, telling Marty to always remember Jesus.
