I`ve wanted to learn this tune for many years. Maybe I can get a handle on it if someone knows the first few bars. I know its on the new Sammy recording, which I haven`t heard yet. Any help is appreciated!

Sorry, I forgot to mention it is a Jean Luc Ponty tune off his "Imaginary Voyage" album.

I think I got most of it by ear since I posted the other day. I`m doing it in A. Its a tough one to get up to speed. I guess thats why those fiddlers use bows.

It's an easier piece on Mando. I can't play it on violin -- sweet blend of rhythm, blues and arpeggios that takes a simple song a step further. Jean Luc is amazing. Actually, he slows it down on the same album and adds the spacey walking bass and gets a totally different feeling. I saw him play at Berklee years ago.

I`m familiar with the sound alike tune you are refering to; I believe its called "The Gates Of Babylon". It is a very similar tune and I confuse it with "New Country" in my memory so I had to relisten closely to "New Country", but I`m still missing something in the first part. I`m finally learning that before you learn to play you really have to learn to listen.

The NGR used to open their shows with this number, sweet.
