I'm in the market for a new mandolin and I'm being drawn towards either a Kentucky. Can somone explain to me the difference between a KM-630 and a KM-620?

Key with the Kentuckys is you want a solid wood model, not a laminate and you want to play as many as possible to find "the one." #I think the 675, 700 and 750 models are all solid wood F5 styles. Many will encourage you to find an older Korea or Japan-built Kentucky, before the production move to China, where they had a few quality issues.
Not sure how much real difference there is between the Kentucky, Michael Kelly and Morgan Monroe models as they are all mass produced in Pac Rim region.

I started with a 630, sold it after a month and bought an MK... much better. Have sense moved on but I much prefer MK over the Chinese Kentucky's from the pacrim.

go to Folk of the Wood website and you'll find good information on the Kentucky line and where they are made. I think it was www.folkofthewood.com
