I can't remember if someone from the Cafe' plugged this book, but want to mention it.
If you are considering a visit anywhere in the N.C. or Virginia areas, #do yourself a favor and buy this book . #The locations take one off the usual tourist traps, and puts you smack dab into the local music #scenes.
The stories make for very interesting reading, and the various locations of jams, dances, music shops, etc are a treasure for an outsider, much less a player, not familiar with the area. Their internet site is probably somewhat more updated.. # Blue Ridge Music Trails website (http://www.blueridgemusic.org/) #but doesn't contain the neat stories and notations.
Anyway, please parden any duplication posts, but this is such a good reference book. Book (http://www.uncpress.unc.edu/books/T-5824.html)
I'll be near Asheville the first week of August, and look forward to visiting many locations in the book/website.
