For all of you Nashville guys there is a band called The Greencards playing tonight at The Station Inn. Their mando player Kym Warner is a great. Just thought I'd pass the word.

Hye, I saw those kids at the Austin City Limits Music Festival. They are great...from Australia, and the accents are pretty funny when they stop and talk...but while they are playing...it's mesmerizing.

They were great at Telluride.

I got to talk with Kym at Telluride before they went on at Elks Park. He's a great player and the band smokes. Plays a ten year old Gilchrist A and makes it sing. I think these folks will go far.

Bumping this thread to report that The Greencards' new album 'The Brick' got a nice little write-up in 'Time' magazine (http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,2070763_2072056_2072255,00.html).

I completely agree with the reviewer's comment that their music hits a sweet spot between Americana, Bluegrass (and I'd add folk). I'm very much looking forward to hearing 'The Brick', as I think their previous three albums (Weather & Water, Viridian and Fascination) are all stellar.

Here is the official press material on the new album (http://www.thegreencards.com/about.html). I'm looking forward to this one! Between this, the new Sarah Jarosz, and Thile/Daves, the mp3 playlist for my summer outdoor activities is pretty much set! :mandosmiley:

Oh, and of course, their mandolin player, Kym Warner, is excellent...He's one of those guys who seems to always choose the right notes without needing to play too many :)

They've already gone far. A tough act to schedule. Nice booking agent, all that, they just have a full schedule that's hard to crack into. They deserve an even bigger audience that they have already.
