Austin TX recommended instrument dealers

I will be in Austin TX on a business trip from overseas and am looking for a recommended instrument dealer who stocks mandolins. Also is it possible to go to the Collings shop and taste some of theirs?

I highly recommend a visit to the Collings Factory, They do tours on Thursdays and Fridays. They ask that you call first to confirm and they will give you directions. Most likely you won't find it on your own. Their phone number is listed on their website. Unfortunately, Austin is not a great town for mandolin shopping. Strait Music near Ben White Rd usually has a few. Enjoy.

I go to Austin frequently and haven't found any retail stores worth visiting-and i tried all the ones in the phone book. sometime I will go to Collings factory.

You might try South Austin Music on South Lamar. They usually have an assortment of mandos, though I've not seen anything interesting in my last two visits.
