There was a "show me your peghead" thread awhile ago, but it was limited to IVs. I'm interested in shapes and inlay that you builders have done. I am doing a IV but am happy to have photos of anything you've done (MOP, wire, platinum, MOTS [mother of toilet seat], etc.). The "Eye Candy" section is somewhat helpful but the photos are frequently small and taken at odd angles. Thanks.

Here is the simple but elegant inlay Bruce Weber did for me. All done in antique ivoroid. This snake head is on my custom Gallatin F5.

Here is the MOP Flying Angel Ken Ratcliff put in my first Silver Angel mandolin:

And here is my newest one. It's a wee tad smaller, but elegant against the ebony headstock vs. the maple in the first mandolin:

It took a while to find this with the search feature, but I knew it was there somewhere. Hope you're not on dialup...

I must have searched "peghead" -- that's a monster thread. I love the first "Lewis" you see. Arts and Craft look. But since the thread petered out a year and a half ago, perhaps there are some new designs.

Here's the headstock detail on my Brian Dean OM. The "b" is inlaid MOP, the knotwork is carved.

One of my favorites (it's also my mando http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif ) is this Arches, with a traditional F5 shape, but the inlay includes wood and dinosaur bone:

Jim - That indeed is a beautiful headstock! I recall seeing and admiring it when you first posted it! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Yeah, I tried "headstock" and "peghead", used 'AND' and 'OR' in different positions, added "favorite", etc., and finally found it, only because I remembered a discussion, about one of the pegheads, that contained words that weren't likely to show up in very many other places. Sometimes you just have to try to think like a computer...
