Maybe the pics at tower should have been taken in other section. ...Not that there's anything wrong with that. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

It's funny that two of my favorite mando pickers, Jeff Austin from Yonder and Thile are both Cub fans, with me being a diehard Cardinals fan.

Mandoplucker, I honestly did not see the sign above Chris' head until after I posted it and even then, it was my friend who was staying with me for a few days that brought it to my attention. My focus was Chris and trying not to be instrusive as he was having a conversation. There was no intent to include that banner to be edgy or any of those terms. I truely am sorry if any find it offensive and will be happy to take it down if it is. Mostly I wanted to capture and share Chris in a Cubs uniform.

I really enjoy Wayne Benson's playing. I'd like to hear more him. Is he a regular with John Cowan? Or what band is he in?

Do they sell Homespun tapes at that venue as well? They seem to have it all.

Alan, He Wayne is listed as a band member on his new CD New Tattoo and on his website as a band member. Unfortunately, I did not get to talk with him.

Wayne was a vital member of 3TO for nine years, he also did many of the Pinecastle BG9x series, he recorded a project with LiveWire (find that one!) and he has played on Scott Vestal and Jeff Autry recordings. Find Vestal's In Pursuit of Happiness and check out The Fly for some scintillating scat pickin! He has a nice solo recording out too, I'm trying to learn that tune in Bm.

I saw the John Cowan Band w/ Wayne last year. Awesome! Also have seen Wayne with 3TO a few times. What the hell were those guys doing playing mandolins in a porno store?

Arthur said maybe add Don S. to that list. I can vouch for Don's fandom of the Cubbies. Don was playing a gig at Wrigley for the baseball game when the roar of the crowd celebrating Sammy Sosa's 62nd home run caused his tenor banjo to feedback over the PA. [Boy, I hope I got the gist of that story right.]
