I attended his workshop in Minneapolis last week. This was my first workshop experience so I have nothing to compare it to other than my lessons. We had a small group so Matt could provide some fairly detailed insight into the individual questions of the group. Our group ranged from rank beginners (me) to a very talented young man who -while he's only played for 18 months or so - shows a great deal of raw talent both technique-wise and musically speaking. I think it's fair to say that we all got something - if nothing else - inspiration!

Matt came prepared with handouts to help focus on common questions (as you can predict, people were interested in improvisation techniques). He also spent a good deal of time (at our request) on technique - how to improve tone, accuracy and speed.

Prior to the workshop, I was not familiar with Matt's recordings. He is definitely a talented individual and has excellent teaching and mentoring skills.
