Come to beautiful Snowbird to compete in the Utah State Mandolin, Flatpick Guitar, Banjo, and Fiddle championships! There are Novice and Open classes, so all are welcome.

Prizes include cash and INSTRUMENTS! Great sponsors, great prizes, great show - even if you don't want to compete you should come see the great players this contest attracts.

Contest is July 8 & 9, during the IAMA & Founders Folk & Bluegrass Festival.

See the website for more details.

Even tho theres no gastank upright bass competition this year (or any year, for that matter) I've already booked a room at the lodge. When I busk with a mando people pay me to stop, hope to pay for the room that way http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
Probably have some cheesy mandos there too!

Im hoping to be there as a spec-tater...coming in from Boise, Idaho. Been meaning to get to some different festivals for years now and this year I decided is the year...

Very cool! Be sure to look me up. I'll be behind the curtain during the contests, but during the festival I'll either be jamming on the plaza or sitting near the front row in front of the stage. Look for the Prince tennis racquet bag disguising itself as a mandolin case.

Speaking of festival, here are highlights from the lineup:
The Gibson Brothers, Cold Creek, Slipstream, The Stringdusters, The Wilders, Greg Brown, Christine Kane, Cliff Eberhardt, and two VERY hot and upcoming local bluegrass bands: Cold Creek and the unforgettable Hammer Down (Ezra Bussman and Jake Workman will amaze you).

Ok, 'nuff said. See you there!

If I had a group of volunteers like the IAMA rounds up every year I'd still be doing Pickamania here in oldwave holler, great family friendly and picker friendly festival with perfect weather day and night, snow capped peaks just above my balcony- you folks have something special going on!
thanks again

Bill, you're right. I was amazed at all the volunteers and how hard they worked to make it a great experience for everyone--performers, audience, jammers, and even the hangers-on who were at Snowbird for other reasons.

The Intermountain Acoustic Music Association (IAMA) is a terrific organization, and everyone who pitches in deserves a big "Thank You." For those of you who are curious, look IAMA up on the web at www.iamaweb.org

Also, Bill, I have to say you really do know how to cut the cheese. Or is that carve the cheese? I can never remember those loothier terms.
