Looks like Grisman and his two sons will blend Dawg with Van Halen; they're covering "Hot For Teacher" on the above mentioned album.

Mandolin virtuoso David Grisman will take an all-acoustic stab at the drums-heavy electric Van Halen classic “Hot For Teacher” on the upcoming bluegrass tribute, Strummin’ with the Devil: The Southern Side of Van Halen. Perhaps inspired by the brothers Van Halen, the track is largely a family affair featuring Grisman, his younger son Sam Grisman on bass and older son Monroe Grisman (American Drag) on guitar. David Grisman and Sons also includes David Grisman Quintet percussionist George Marsh and fiddle ace, and DGQ alum, Darol Anger.
“I grew up a huge fan of the original Van Halen and when my dad called and asked if I wanted to do it I jumped at the chance -- no pun intended,” said Monroe Grisman, who co-produced the track with his father. “My pop was trying to go with the original rock vibe, but I wanted it to be a blend of the two styles [Van Halen and Dawg] and to be both recognizable to Van Halen fans and something that could also turn on fans of Dawg Music. He ended up agreeing, and to that end, I really think we nailed it.”
“It was also the first time that my brother and I have recorded anything with our pop together, which makes it pretty special for us, family-wise. We had a blast and I think that my dad and the rest of those cats have a new appreciation for Van Halen's music” The disc also includes cuts from Tony Trischka, Dudley Connell, Marshall Wilborn, and Dave McLaughlin; The John Cowan Band and Larry Cordle. In addition, original Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth sits in with the John Jorgensen Bluegrass Band on “Jump” and “Jamie’s Cryin.” David Lee Roth will celebrate the album’s June 6 release by performing on the Tonight Show tomorrow.
