man, that gd keyboard hot seat is brutal! vince took me a while to get used to after seeing so many brent shows. i didn't see a ton in the 90s, but eventually his voice and smiling personality much more so than his keyboard playing became joyful for me. a bummer.:(

Vince was a good guy and a nice player. He sat in and played piano and accordion with my band Wake the Dead a few times over the years, and it was always a treat.

He's gone, gone, nothin's gonna bring him back...He's gone.

Very sad. I saw Vinnie a couple of times in the 90s and he was a great player, and inspired the Dead to pull out some nuggets in the encores. He was also the keyboard player for The Tubes, and had some great tunes with them.

Apparently there was a lot of "unpleasantness" between Vince and the other surviving members of GD, and this caused a huge amount of sadness on Vince's part. One of his friends posted a very bitter attack on the Dead (mainly Bobby and Phil) wondering why Vince was never invited to the reunion shows of the "surviving members" of GD.

Fare thee well, Vince.

That's unfortunate. Things really seem to have gone downhill.

It's especially sad since it looks like it may have been a suicide.

Just this morning i was listening to Vince's excellent piano work on "Bird Song", in a nice recording of the first "Phil & Friends" concert in Berkeley.
