Wow, I heard rumors on this forum that SCGC might get into mando building. Is this the start? They're one of my favorite guitar makers. I'd sure love to see what Richard Hoover and company can put together for mando.

I played one at the Gibson Showcase in Nashville. #Reminded me of trying to flatpick a tune on an electric bass. #The scale length is just too long for my short fingers. #Didn't play it enough to be able to judge the sound or useability.

When those get down around $250.00 I'm gonna get me one....

Actually, that looks pretty cool. Their guitars are excellent.

Richard Hoover was at the Mandolin Symposium in Santa Cruz with one last year....pretty cool........Carmel Music has one at $6,120.
From the Carmel Music web site: This is without a doubt one of the best sounding and easiest playing mandocellos we have ever had. Done in a sloped shoulder jumbo body, it has very old, well flamed eastern maple back and sides with a beautiful "AAA" Adirondack spruce top (all from our personal stock). Ebony fretboard on a flamed maple neck (1 1/2" nut width), unique ebony bridge and snakehead style peghead with inlaid SCGC logo. All this is set off in a traditional tobacco sunburst finish. OHSC

No doubt about it. Their guitars are great.

This thread reminded me I hadn't played my GAS killing SCGC dread in at least a week. So I pushed away from the desk, got up, grabbed my guitar, went out back and played for an hour. Love the tone of that 42 Bluegrass Drednought.

I haven't heard or played the mandocello, but Dexter Gordon has one. Maybe someone can coax him into bringing it to the Mandolin Symposium.
