Greetings fellow Dola fever sufferers. To make your illness a little more tolerable, I've transposed some of our stock 'ii V7 I' progressions for you to ponder and develop for yourself.

Nice work Dr. E!
One of the transition points to 'dola is realizing that you are playing a transposing instrument in a way...A saxophonist can use the same fingerings on a Bb Tenor or Eb Alto, but the actual pitches come out different (the written C note produces a Bb on tenor and Eb on alto).
On the 'dola, the low string is a C, so if you "think mando" and play all your tunes with regular fingering, you will be a 5th lower than where you think you would be on mando. So, learning to "think 'dola" is a challenge for those of us who are mando-centric.
It's a similar leap of faith for fiddlers who take up viola (which shares the 'dola tuning).

Right on, Professor McG!
Yet another reason to mentally approach the mandolin in terms of note relationships rather than just notes on the fretboard, you not only get the benefit of jumping around on all 12 keys (with ease), when the Dola bug bites, playing one is a no-brainer. A simple matter of a fifths transposition.
And speaking of Fifths (http://jazzmando.com/circle_of_fifths_cloth.shtml)...
