Just got off the phone with Steve and Gianna Violins. He was super helpful and nice and said he'd get my new 504 voodoo'ed and out the door before he leaves town tomorrow. What a guy.
Counting down the seconds till it arrives!!

Way to go. I think you will really like the 504.Pobably the best kept secret for oval hole mandolins on the market.
I have found that they really open up quickly. Steve does a good job setting them up, so you should be ready to go soon.
The one's I saw have a differant finish than my #13, more tranparent and less sunburst if I remember corretly, a real beauty.
Enjoy,

Thanks for all your good wishes... I really think I will die of excitement before it arrives...
Any of you 504ers out there have any tips or do's and don'ts on putting a pickup on this thing? My other mando (gold tone gm-110) came with one installed... Will I be okay with one of those fishman bridges?

Well, I sat and played it for a little while (oh, four hours or so!! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif ) and i have to say i'm totally impressed.
First impression: #It's light! #It feels like it weighs an ounce, not more. #The looks of the instrument are just what I was hoping for, and the sound! #The sound is out of this world. #Loud, clear, singing tone. #Surprisingly good bass response, but nearly perfectly even across the strings.
I heard somewhere that the sound of an oval-hole mandolin "develops" a lot closer to the instrument than an f-hole mandolin. #I don't know if it's universally true, but with my ears a foot and a half away from the instrument, I was just blown away. #Played into a wall to hear the bounce back too. #
I will take pictures after work today, if I can put the thing down!!!
Chris
P.S. Steve @ Gianna: #THANK YOU!!! #You did an incredible job voicing this thing. #Your customer service style will keep me coming back. #Delivery was quick and the packaging seemed incredibly safe.

Dabowsa - Yes I got the full Voodoo setup done. Not having heard the instrument before the treatment, I can't speak to any improvement. But the sound coming out of this thing is incredible.
Jeff - Oh, you bet I'll bring it in.
