Hey, can anyone help me with what the differences are between a A-9 and a gibson A style flatiron performer series. I can find info on the A-9 but not the flatiron. Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks

A big difference is you can still buy a new A9 with a factory warranty.
The A9 was designed to duplicate the tonal qualities of the F5. The A9 has binding only on the face and neck, where a A5 performer had front and rear binding with headstock binding and the inlaid headstock. The A5 has fretboard markers, the A9 only has side markers (a few were made with fretboard markers).
And to really confuse the matter is the A5 Performer was made in two era's. Gibson made the performers in Montana and Tennessee.

unless the design has changed, i think the a9 only has top binding, no neck. also, the a9 has a flat fretboard, and at least some flatirons have radiused fretboards.

You're right, I thought it had binding on the neck and had to check just now to see it does not.
I hope Gibson goes thru with the new Flatirons soon. I have my eye on a new F4.
