I have a mandolin with a shallow neck angle that requires the bridge to be somewhere around 1/2" or 17/32 for real low action. The mandolin sounds great so I hate to change much but I would like the strings to be a little lower.
I currently have the bridge about 19/32". So I would like to lower it a little.

What bridge do you suggest me using? How thin can you make the ears on a loar style bridge?

thanks in advance for the help

I would think you or a luthier/repairman would be able to take a little off of the bridge you have.
I have a cheap PacRim mandolin and after looking at some websites (Red Henry's was one of them) I decided to make a bridge for it myself a couple of days ago. Its not adjustable, just had to keep taking some off of the bottom until it was the height I wanted. Figure to build my own bridges for the mandolins I am building for myself so this was good practice.
Can't say the mando sounds like a million bucks, but I was happy with the way the bridge turned out.
