I'm looking to take part in Mike Compton's webcam lessons, and plan to go to workshops and festivals. So I know I'm in for some video upgrades/purchases, and a learning curve. So far I've recorded audio on minidisc (not entirely happily because of the transfer to pc hard drive restrictions). I'm finding Dasspunk's and You Tube offerings pretty cool, so I'm thinking about going to video. Basically, I want my next suite of equipment and software to be simple to record, edit to tracks, use for playback, and make dvd copies. I run windows xp pro on a notebook, my hard drive is just about filled up with tunes and pictures. So an external hard drive seems to be in order. Anyone transitioned from audio to video? Recommendations as to video camcorder? dvd burner? software? I'm hoping to keep it simple.

thanks,

RK

I just bought an Apple iMAC G5 from Costco and I coudn't be happier. It has the webcam already built in and I've alrady used iCHAT to share things in real time. I'm just starting to get into Garage Band, but others in my band are already using it with great success.

Hey Pete,
I just went to the Costco web site and found no Apple products. Was the G-5 an in store promo only? I have an older G-4 but am wanting to upgrade.

By the way, I'm saving a couple of great C'gars for Darrington. It's the only place I'll do a store this year, and it's my last one. Kenc

Yes, I think it was just an in store special as Apple was blowing these out to make way for new Intel boxes.

Yeah, looking forward to some good smokes and we'll have to do the Collings thang too!
