My 15 year old guitarist son just asked me to play a gig with him. I usually have to drag him along to the crusty old stuff I want to do, but he wants to put together a 45 minute set for us to play together for a benefit for his High School. (I could not have imagined ever asking my father to do anything at my high school...it was bad enough when he gave the "family life" lecture to all the boys in my Jr. High.)

I wonder if he'll let me yodel?

I guess I just have to buy a new mandolin for the occasion.

That's pretty cool!

This is just a guess, but I bet the father/son relationship, that you have a chance to strengthen here, would not benefit from yodeling! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I would recon you might need to buy him a new instrument for the occasion. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif That's great. When I was in High School I never would have asked my Dad to do anything at my school. You're very fortunate.

Good Luck and have a blast.

Congratulations. My son owns a head banger record label. I keep finding my picture and my music showing up on his CD covers, in his commercials, and on his music videos. He never asks if he can do it but I'm honored just the same.

The funny part is I can yodel a lot better than I can play mandolin.

Very cool indeed! You might have to forgo the yodeling, but make sure you dress the part. Years ago I tried to adopt the "skateboarder" look (hey I thought it was cool) as my son was very into it. I even tried it at bluegrass festival (gasp!) and he called me a poseur <grins>.
