Just got my mandoblaster, no idea what strings are on it, but I don't like them.
I will be playing rock w/ fulltone overdrive pedal and variety of boss effects pedals, lots of bends and sliding...
Any recommendation?
Also, does anyone else not like the frets on the mandoblaster? I'm used to wide, nickel banjo style frets on my acoustic... would it make sense to swap them out.

I'm liking the D'Addario Half Rounds. #I use .009, .012, .022, .030, .046. You can buy the individual gauges at www.juststrings.com.

Until recently, I bought my sets from Martin Stillon at Emando. He has them for 5- and 8-string emandos, and does a good job of getting them together. They're also cheaper than buying yours independently.
That said, I'm switching to flatwounds bought as singles from Juststrings. I use D'Addario chrome flats on my guitars, and I don't like the roundwounds for much of anything anymore.
So I'll let you know how a 5-string Schwab sounds with .050 C, .040 G, .026 D, .015 (plain steel) A, and .011 (plain steel) E.

Guess I'll hafta start selling flatwounds too! Just ordered a couple of sets for my acoustic, and I'll see how I like 'em.

By all means, Martin! I'd rather buy 'em from you, anyway.

I've been using the Black Diamond "black coated" extra light electric guitar strings. I think they work great, good tone, good sustain, good feel, looks cool in black....but I am gonna try the half wounds next.
