As we enter what is for many of us one of the most meaningful seasons of the year, I was moved to do a little bit of reflecting on our commonly-shared avocation and how it fits into the "Grand Scheme of Things." This is respectfully posted with my head bowed in awe, reverence and worship toward He who created the "blueprint" that I follow herein, many years ago...
Blessed are the poor in pocketbook,
for theirs is the joy of music for music's sake.
Blessed are those who practice,
for they shall indeed improve.
Blessed are those who seek help and counsel in their musical quests,
for they shall know the true camaraderie of the mandolin community.
Blessed are those who hunger for a better mandolin or more accessories,
for they shall ensure the future of our builders and dealers.
Blessed are those who take the time to instruct others,
for they shall find their own learning enhanced.
Blessed are those who freely use their talents for the joy of others,
for the joy that they give shall be returned to them a thousand fold.
Blessed are the "pros" among us who share their experiences with us,
for they provide the inspiration that the rest of us aspire to.
Blessed are those who are ridiculed for the sake of their music,
for, despite all, they are truly doing the work of the Creator.
...enjoy the season, my friends.
