I can't find the thread or site that has the most helpful fingering drills.

Anybody have any of their personal favorites to add that have been most beneficial??

I've been at this three months, and all I want to do is just keep learning songs, but shouldn't I do scales (of which I only know the D) and drills?

Learn as many scales as you can using no open strings. Move them up and down the neck. This is great for finger exercises.

I havn't practiced all that much lately but I checked out Ted Eschliman's website (Mandohack) a while back http://www.jazzmando.com/ and found some really good stuff there.

Actually, I have found scales to be kind of fun, especially when you just noodle around with them.

Now, the jazzmando site....whoooaa

Dad slammed his finger in a car door once, and drilled right thru the fingernail to let the blood out, so he wouldn't lose the nail. Pretty gross.

In some of the old "mandolin World news" Sam Bush had a column called finger busters. What a workout. They were tunes, not scales, that really get you fingers moving independently. I'll have to try to dig those out. If you are interested I can fax them to you. Just PM me.

I'll second the recommendation for Mandohack's jazz mando scale and positioning exercises. He has a link to a Mel Bay site where he's been wriing monthly excercises. Very helpful!

Do you have any other way of getting those Bush Busters out. I would be extremely interested in getting ahold of them.
