I would like to get some feedback from the Cafe folk on their experiences with building Siminoff F5 kits. Thanks

Skyblue,
You might not get a lot of response to your question (but who knows maybe you will). There have been thread after thread on the StewMac, Siminoff, and IV kits as a well as few on some other kits.
When I put Siminoff into the cafe search engine I get ten pages of thread titles. Some just mention his books or his plans, but several have some information about his kits. Some compare his kits to other kits (primarily the StewMac kit).
Do a search and spend a few hours reading.

I've Done 3 with Siminoff, you can see my F4 on Rogers site, My last F5 was from Rogers Wood, this one is a great mandolin. #As said above there are about 20 threads about this, type in key word Siminoff or Kit. You can't go wrong with a StewMac or Siminoff. #StewMac will be at your door in 4 days, Siminoff 4 weeks, however you can pick and choose wood from Rogers stuff, Stewmac has nice flamed maple in their kits too. StewMacs a bit more easy to build, but Siminoffs is closer to Vintage Gibson specs than SM. Don McRostie builds the kits for Stewmac they are close the neck joints and headstocks are what differ the most and tone bar placement. Either one can be a great mandolin if you take your time and read alot. Read on this site about graduations of the plates and tap tuning, placing tonebars ect. along with Don or Rogers plans and you can have a nice mandolin, JD
I just ordered my wood for #6 from Bruce (going scratch) #JD
